Salt Lake City, Utah. The Utah Department of Alcoholic Beverage Services (DABS) held its January Commission Meeting on Thursday, January 29, 2026, approving a wide range of new liquor license applications, ownership changes, and conditional licenses across the state.
From new restaurants and bars to hotels, distilleries, and recreational venues, today’s agenda moved several names one step closer to opening, or reopening their doors.
Notes from the room before approvals
Before commissioners voted through today’s agenda, a few reminders and forward-looking comments were shared that matter for bar owners and nightlife regulars.
One commissioner reminded bar license holders that food must be served in order for alcohol to be served, noting that several recent compliance issues across the state have involved alcohol being sold without food being served to patrons.
Separately, another commissioner commented on future licensing, saying she would be unlikely to approve additional Reception/Event Center licenses moving forward, potentially through 2030, unless an existing license is surrendered and becomes available. The comment was framed as a look ahead, not a change to today’s approvals.
All items listed below were approved as presented during the January 29, 2026 DABS Commission Meeting.
