Utah’s live entertainment scene could be getting a major new addition.

This week, plans were officially unveiled for the proposed Vesper Amphitheater, a large-scale entertainment venue planned for the mouth of Provo Canyon. Backed by members of the The Osmonds family, the project would transform a long-active mining site into what developers describe as a year-round destination for live music, recreation, and outdoor gathering space.

If completed as proposed, the venue would feature 20,000 outdoor seats during open-air concert season, with the ability to convert into an 8,000-seat enclosed configuration for year-round events, potentially making it one of Utah’s most ambitious entertainment developments to date.

The proposed site spans more than 110 acres near the base of Mount Timpanogos, with plans that include public trails, landscaped gathering areas, and a larger effort to reclaim and repurpose land previously used for mining operations. Project leaders say the vision is to create a destination that blends entertainment with outdoor access while preserving the natural character of the canyon.

The announcement has already sparked plenty of conversation across Utah.

Supporters see the project as a potential game-changer for Utah County’s live event landscape, with the possibility of attracting larger touring acts, boosting tourism, and expanding entertainment options outside Salt Lake City.

At the same time, others have raised questions about traffic flow, environmental impact, infrastructure demands, and how a project of this scale could affect one of Utah County’s most recognizable outdoor spaces.

At this stage, the project remains in its early planning phases, with permitting, public review, engineering studies, and community feedback expected to shape what happens next. A ceremonial groundbreaking has been discussed for spring 2027, though final timelines will depend on approvals and development progress.

For Utah’s growing concert and nightlife culture, the proposal represents a significant moment worth watching.

Whether it ultimately moves forward as planned or evolves through public input, the proposed Vesper Amphitheater is already becoming one of the state’s most talked-about entertainment developments of the year.

As more details emerge, this is one Utah music fans will want to keep on their radar.
