SunTrapp Employees Continue Strike as Unionization Talks Enter Third Week

SLCPIX

SALT LAKE CITY OCT-22-25 — Employees at SunTrapp, a well-known LGBTQ+ bar in downtown Salt Lake City, have entered their third week of striking amid an ongoing disagreement over unionization efforts.

According to a report by FOX 13 News, staff members began picketing outside the venue earlier this month, calling for clearer workplace policies, consistent disciplinary procedures, and formal union recognition.

SunTrapp’s ownership responded publicly through social media, saying the business has sought legal guidance as it works to navigate the situation. Management maintains that it values its employees and hopes to resolve the matter constructively.

Striking workers have continued to gather on Friday and Saturday nights between 10:30 p.m. and 1 a.m., encouraging community members to show support while discussions continue.

The strike has drawn attention across Salt Lake City’s nightlife community, not only for its labor implications, but also because SunTrapp has long been a cornerstone of the city’s LGBTQ+ nightlife scene.

As of now, negotiations are ongoing, and it’s unclear when operations will return to normal.
